Tribal Life & Culture Tour

Tour Itinerary

Days 1 : Guwahati - Tezpur
Arrive at Guwahati Airport and then from Guwahati to Tezpur by road. Check in to the hotel/resort.
Days 2 : Rupa - Scenic drive, Shertukpen Monpa Tribes
Early morning drive to Rupa. Enjoy the breathtaking scenic beauty of this tiny hill station. Visit a Shertukpen Tribal village.
Days 3 : Tawang - Sela Pass , Dirang Village
Early morning, we will visit the upper and the lower 'Gompa' (Buddhist Monastery) at Bomdilla. After a leisurely breakfast we depart for Tawang, the blessed land of Monpa 's..En-route visit to Jaswant Garh; a war memorial for slain soldier Jaswant Singh Rawat. In spite of his death he is being awarded promotions as if he still alive. Drive past Sella Pass; the entry point into the Tawang Valley. It is at an elevation of 13700 ft above the sea level. The glimpse of Paradise Lake in the Sella Pass makes your visit worth. Most of the time, the lake is covered with thick blanket of snow.Check in at the hotel for overnight stay. In the night one can see illuminated Tawang Monastery.
Days 4 : Tawang - Monasteries, Nunneries, Monpa Tribal culture
After breakfast, visit 350years old Buddhist monastery, locally known as Gompa, which seemed to be suspended from heaven in an equally ethereal space. Also visit the nunneries locally called Ani Gompa and Urgelling Monastery, 460 years old Monastery established by lama Urghen Sangpo Bhumthang, which is also the birthplace of His holiness 6th Dalai Lama.
Days 5 : Tawang - Monastery, Zemithang, Monpa Village
Early in the morning we will drive to Zemithang to encounter the Monpa tribal peoples. Picnic lunch at Tourist lodge by the riverside. Return to Tawang.
Days 6 : Dirang - Scenic drive, Gompa, Tribes, Waterfalls, Sela peak
Early morning drive to Jang to encounter the waterfalls, one of the breathtaking sights. Move onto Dirang (145km from Tawang), another heart pulling place with scenic beauty, enroute stopping at Sela Top (13000 ft).
Days 7 : Dirang - Trek, Scenic beauty
Explore the beauty of the Sangti valley and trek through the ‘Dirang Monpa’ Tribal village to where rare Black Necked Cranes come for wintering.
Days 8 : Nameri - National park, Elephants, Wild life
Early in the morning drive for the Nameri National Park (209km), the last house of White winged Wood Duck along with many other rare species.. Accommodation will be in the thatched hut in the Eco Camp; adjacent to the Nameri National Park. The Eco Camp itself offers a golden opportunity to live with the nature.
Days 9 : Nameri to Itanagar
Early in the morning activities in the park. Later drive to Itanagar. On arrival check in at the Hotel.
Days 10 : Itanagar- Ziro (120 kms / 4.5 hrs)
Drive to Ziro. Enroute stop at tribal villages. Upon arrival at Ziro, check in to the hotel. Your afternoon is free to wander around this picturesque hill town.
Days 11 : Ziro

Today we will spend the day exploring the local villages near Ziro. In the morning we take a 3 hour walk to explore three Apatani tribal villages that present a view of a very different culture. Return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, we drive to Hong Apatani village – the largest village of the tribe. Here we spend time with an Apatani family and later in the evening return to Hotel.

Days 12 : Ziro
Today in the morning we visit the Nishi, Tribal Village of Joram also in the vicinity. Visit the unique tribal long house and after interacting with this interesting little community we return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, we visit the local handicraft centre, tribal museum, orchid center, and the fascinating bazaar. In the evening you are entertained with a lively Apatani tribal dance. Return to Hotel for the night.
Days 13 : Ziro – Daporijo (160 kms)
Today we drive through lush green hillsides to the small town of Daporiji. Enroute pay a visit to Raga – a village of the hill Miri tribe located in the Kamala River valley. Stay overnight at the circuit house/hotel at domporijo.
Days 14 : Domporijo
Explore the habitat of the tagin tribe. Drive to tagin tribal villages of dolum and sappi. After lunch at the circuit house we will visit to the local handicraft centre and the bazaar.
Days 15 : Daporijo– Aalo (160 kms. / 8 hrs )
Drive to Along. Visit Kabong village- a village of the Adi Galong tribe. Spend some time with community learning about their lifestyle, customs, traditions, and legends. Later experience the thrilling crossing of a cane bridge built by the Adi Galong tribe.
Days 16 : Aalo
Today we take a short drive followed by a walk to Yaksi village. Here you get to witness a “ponung” welcome dance and the exciting “tappu” war dance performed by members of the Adi-Miniyong tribe. Return to Along by late afternoon and explore the bazaar and the museum and local centre. Return to Anchal Bhavan/Village House by late evening.
Days 17 : Aalo - Boleng with a full days' trek to Komsing village (50 kms / 2 hrs )

After a short drive we begin our trek to the remote and historical Adi-Miniyong village of Khomsing . Explore this vibrant village and its forested surroundings. To make it more informal and get a look into the lifestyles of these simple tribal folk we lunch with them and are treated to folk songs. The village elders singing " abang " folkers is a moving sight and will remain in memory for years to come. Trek back to Boleng for the night. We stay at the Boleng Circuit House or are given a local homestay.

Days 18 : Boleng - Yanking – Mariyang (120 kms / 3.5 hrs)
Today’s drive takes us from Boleng to Mariyang via Yinkiong village. Enroute we take a short walk to visit a Shimong tribal village. Spend the rest of the day exploring another laid back tribal village and spend the night at the Circuit House.
Days 19 : Mariyang
Today it’s a day of driving and walking to the Damro village- home of the Padum tribe. They are a friendly lot and we spend the day here before returning to Mariyang for the night.
Days 20 : Mariyang – Pasighat (90 kms / 2hrs)
Drive to Pasighat visiting the tribal villages of Pado, Sili, and Bodak on the way to Pasighat. In the afternoon you get to visit the Pasighat museum and handicraft centre.
Days 21 : Pasighat - ferry - crossing - Dibrugarh
Today’s the last day of our tour as we board a local ferry boat from the Urium Ghat at Pasighat to cross over the expansive Brahmaputra River into the neighbouring state of Assam and its large town of Dibrugarh. Once across, you are driven to Dibrugarh where you check into the Hotel for the night.
Days 22 : departure
Transfer to Dibrugarh airport to board your flight for onward journey to Delhi.
